ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY : LECTURES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MOTIVATING THEIR STUDENTS

Thesis : lectures are responsible for motivating students to learn.
Arguments :
First : Harmer reported in his book “English Language Teaching”
Second : motivation is the key of success in learning teaching process.
Third : motivating someone is not always using words.
Conclusion : motivation is one of the influential factor in learning.

University life is different from senior high school life. But does not mean that we don’t need motivation from our lectures because we already grown up. Motivation is the simple way to help someone to achieve their goals. And I couldn’t agree more that lectures are responsible for motivating students to learn.

First of all, Harmer reported in his book “English Language Teaching” that motivation is some kind of internal drive which pushes someone to do something in order to achieve something.

Secondly, motivation is the key of success in learning teaching process. The success of learning depends on high or low motivation of students. And by having motivation, students will be enthusiastic in teaching learning process. So, they will pushed to study well.

The last but not least, motivating someone is not always using words. For example, in my English class. In my English class is not allowed to speak in another language except English. And if you said 1 word in another language you will stand for 30 minutes. Well, this rule motivate me to get used to using English.

Motivation is one of the influential factor in learning that drives learners to struggle to reach their goals in learning process and become a stimulus in learning process. Lectures must use modern tactics, gifting and practicality that could make motivation in their students. However, if students want to reach their goal, they must perfect themselves and try their best to do, and coupled with the motivation of lectures. Because the lecture are our role model and mentor in college.

  1. Nice writing, Dinda! Overall your writing is good. But I have a suggestion for you.

In the third argument, "motivating someone is not always using words" will be much more better if you write "Motivating someone is not only by words" as I think it will fit to your meaning more.

That's all of my suggestion. I didn't spot any major mistakes, please keep up the good work! :)

  2. Hai Dinda ! Good job n your essay! your ideas of expressing your thoughts are great . you have enough knowledge in vocabs and your grammar's getting better. But, I think I found a typo..You should write lecturers not lectures. "Enthusiastic in learning teaching process" I don't really get what you mean in this sentence, do you mean "enthusiast in learning process"? or is it me who doesn't get what you mean.. if yes I'm sorry..
Overall it's great ! Keep it up!

  4. Hi Dinda ! even we are having different thoughts, your thesis is good.
Even I don't agree with you, but how you explain your opinions are good and you explain it completely with the details.
even some of the explanation still need some fit sentence to make it perfect.
    overall, it's good :)

  8. Wow this is such a great writing!! You can desribe your though clearly. Keep writing Dinda... Btw, your lecturer has found a mrthod to motivate or maybe "force" the students to speak in English😆 But, I think that is an effective way to prevent the students to speak in other languages

  11. Nice one, Dinda. But there are few correction that you need to put on. In the last paragraph, you write "learners to struggle to reach their goals in learning process and become a stimulus in learning process". I think you should remove the sentences "in learning process" before the word "and" because it's a wasting sentences. And then the word "struggle" please replace with "strugling".

Some correction already spoken in other comments.

    Make it great, Dinda 😉.

Keep it up and I'll wait for you next article!

  13. Thesis : lecturers are responsible for motivating students to learn.
    Arguments :
First : Harmer reported in his book “English Language Teaching”
Second : motivation is the key of success in learning teaching process.
Third : motivating someone is not only by words.
Counter : lecturers are not fully responsible for motivating their students.
Conclusion : motivation is one of the influential factor in learning.

Although the role of the lecturers are vital but the decided factor is still depends on the student’s attitude. If they have a very good motivator but they don’t want to try, they will be never successful. Oppositely, if they even don’t have many advantages but they don’t give up and manage to work hard, the success will come. In other words, lecturers are not fully responsible for motivating their students.

Motivation is one of the influential factor in learning that drives learners to struggle to reach their goals and become a stimulus in learning process. Lecturers must use modern tactics, gifting and practicality that could make motivation in their students.
